I bought a copy of The Art of Kung Fu Panda 2 the other day and it was worth every cent.
To anyone who says that 3D animation is lifeless, bland, and is not art, you are no better than those who say digital painting is not an art (which I take personal offense to). This movie is a fantastic example of how beautiful CGI animation can be. You can tell that years of hard work and effort were put into it.
I would also like to mention that Jennifer Yuh Nelson’s storyboard is the most adorable thing I have ever seen and now I want to see the whole movie in storyboard format.
If you want to see more, order the book yourself :D It’s very inspirational if you want to start doing landscape and cityscape as well as character design.
